Come Up In The Spot Lookin' Extra-Fly

I finished the Carie cardigan yesterday afternoon, and was all jazzed to take pictures and show it off. So I attempted yesterday evening to do that multi-tasking thing that other mom-types seem to do so well. Clearly, I can't seem to get a hang of it, even though I tried by attempting to take pictures and getting The Gov ready for his bath at the same time. Keep in mind that bath-time for a 5-year old is pretty low key, with most of the effort spent on cajoling said child into the bath. I'd accomplished that task, and then set about to taking pictures while His Honor went about his bathtime administrations.

What I didn't count on: taking the best picture of me wearing the sweater at the precise moment that he decided to slip into the bath.

So I give you the following masterpiece, entitled "Completed Cropped Cardigan Against Bathtime Background:"

So much for my happy ending

Carie from Fitted Knits was originally started as a stash-bushing project, but it has sort of taken a life of its own. I didn't realize that I needed about 1 1/2 more skeins of the Lion's Brand Jiffy Thick & Quick that I'd had lying around in my yarn basket to complete it. But I'm five rows away from the set of increases to flare the sleeve end on the second sleeve. With the exception of kind of a poor choice to knit something in a chunky yarn that happens to end right under your br3asts, it's turning into a knitting success...but not necessarily a stash-busting one. Net-net, I'd say I'd have decreased my stash by 1 1/2 skeins.

This week was gawd-awful. I ended up practically in tears today after a friend/client made a last minute request for a RUSH! project right at close of business. It was one of a week of last-minute projects with completely unreasonable timelines. This week was wall-to-wall with constant stress. It was unmanageable, and I had something akin to a temper tantrum on Wednesday morning. But, I survived, and to reward myself I purchased 3 skeins of Malabrigo.

I'll take better pictures in natural light, but I'm so excited about it. I love the subtle color shifts. I've decided not touching it until I've completed 3 more stash-busting projects (not including the washcloth I have in progress), just to give myself some incentive to use some of what I have.

Believe it or Not, It's Just Me

Every mom thinks her child walks on air, right?

I got proof that mine actually does. Observez:

This running on air business does appear to take a lot of energy.

Messy

I feel sorta pervy that I've been oogling Alan Thicke's son, but sweet Jesus, is he not just totally adorable?

Lots of things I could say, but I'm just going to say that I'm pensive tonight. Last week was busy, this past weekend was busy, and this week looks like it's going to shape up as more of the same. Sometimes in the frentic swirl of things, I find myself forcing myself to once again rationalize something that can't be rationalized. It's the type of thing you're bursting at the seams to talk about, but doing so will basically not really do much except possibly be hurtful. In the end, it amounts to nothing except me being silly little me. For now, however, it's just a big mass of emotion that I carry around with me.
